Philippians 3:10
There is nothing in all creation more urgent, more demanding, more glorious than the pursuit of knowing God Himself. The deeper you gaze into the ocean of His attributes, His holiness that shatters complacency, His sovereignty that humbles every proud ambition, His mercy that moves mountains of guilt and shame, the more you are undone by the magnitude of who He is.
Encountering the living God in the pages of Scripture will ignite a love strong enough to reshape your desires, reorder your life, and set your soul ablaze. God’s self-revelation is no casual mystery reserved for the scholar or the casual seeker. It is a relentless call: “Let us know, let us press on to know the Lord” (Hosea 6:3).
To know Him is to tremble and rejoice, to see your deepest flaws exposed yet covered by a love fierce beyond comprehension. His attributes, eternal, just, omnipotent, righteous, unchanging, are not dry doctrines but living realities meant to break hardened hearts and awaken genuine worship.
Do not settle for intellectual familiarity or cultural Christianity. This is a summons to desperate, determined encounter, the holy obsession that drove Moses to plead, “Show me Your glory,” and Paul to declare, “I count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ my Lord” (Exodus 33:18; Philippians 3:8). With every discovery of God’s majesty, pride is shattered. Every glimpse of His compassion deepens your devotion. Each revelation pulls you out of lukewarm routine into the white-hot center of worship.
Let this burn within you: the more you come to know the real, living God as He has revealed Himself, majestic, holy, infinitely wise, and good, the more your soul is compelled to love Him.
Knowledge and love are inexorably linked; shallow knowledge begets shallow love, but seeing the excellencies of God with spiritual eyes will fill you with a love that endures trial, overcomes temptation, and conquers apathy. This is a call to rise from half-hearted living.
Refuse to be content with the echoes of others’ faith. Refuse to stay in the shallows when you are called to swim the depths. Dig into His Word not out of duty but out of relentless hunger, for every revealed facet of God’s character is another spark to the fire of your affection. Do not rest until your heart reflects the adoration of those nearest to His throne: “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty!”
If you find your love waning, do not strive harder; look higher. Worship grows where the greatness of God is seen and savored. The most vibrant saints are those who cannot get enough of who God is; the most fruitful lives are those lived in awe of His splendor.
So, press on; seek, plead, knock, and linger at the feet of Jesus in prayer, meditation, and obedience. As you behold His beauty, love will flood your soul, a love fierce enough to transform every part of you and spill over to a world desperate for truth.
Let your life be consumed by this one pursuit, to know Him more, that your love might grow, matching the greatness you behold.
